Curriculum Mapping

 

1.     Curriculum for Bachelor of Social Welfare(BSW)

The design of curriculum for BSW aims to educate students for a range of social welfare administration and planning roles. Three fundamental compulsory courses are ‘Sociology’, ‘Economics’ and ‘Political Science’, in order to integrate fundamental knowledge of social science into social welfare practice.

Specific required courses include: ‘An Introduction to Social Welfare’, ‘Social Statistic’, ‘Social Research Method’, ‘ Social Policy and Social Legislation’, ‘the Welfare State’, ‘Social Welfare Administration’, ‘Planning and Evaluation of Program’, ‘Public Finance’, ‘Social Problems’, and ‘Introduction to Law’

A number of elective courses which is in line with the development and research of our department include ‘Non-Profit Organization Management’, ‘Health Policy’, ‘Family Policy’, ‘Community Organization and Development’, ‘Social Stratification’, ‘Pension’, ‘Demography’ and so on.

 

2.     Curriculum for Master of Social Welfare (MSW)

The main aim of our Master of Social Welfare program is to educate how to integrate the knowledge of social science to policymaking and evaluation of social welfare policies. Our courses include ‘Theories of Social Welfare’, ‘Social Policy Analysis’, ‘Comparative Health Policy’ and ‘Social Security’. The MSW program is therefor to offer senior experts of social welfare administration and policymaking.

 

3.     Curriculum for PhD in Social Welfare

The establishment of the Social Welfare doctoral program is for the development of social welfare in Taiwan, in order to develop scholars of social welfare research and teaching. The design of curriculum particularly focuses on training of social theory, methodology and research. All doctoral students, regardless of full-time or part-time, are required to publish two peer-review journal articles, and ‘Qualifying Exam’ should be taken and a doctoral dissertation should be completed to receive PhD.

 

 

The aims of Education

 

1.     Bachelor of Social Welfare(BSW)

Our BSW program places the emphasis on the integration and application of social science knowledge and multiple thought to discuss social welfare issues, in order to educate students to understand policy analysis, policy planning, public administration and welfare services.

 

2.     Master of Social Welfare (MSW)

Our MSW program aims to discuss and analyze theories and policies of social welfare through interdisciplinary social science knowledge, and therefore develop more experts of social welfare policy analysis, evaluation, social administration and management.

 

3.     PhD in Social Welfare

Our social welfare doctoral program emphasizes on the integration and innovation of theories and methodology of social science to analyze the issues of social welfare. This doctoral program attempts to develop experts and scholars in social welfare development, teaching, policymaking and policy analysis.
